People Commit Crime For Selfish Reasons

Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya, a cosmetics millionaire was 47 years old when she was murdered along with three other men who was her employees. They were killed in October 2010. She and the other three were burned and their ashes was scattered into sea or along the beach. What were the murderer’s motives to kill her? Why was she punished in such a cruel way? Those are the first questions that pop into my mind and perhaps on some other Malaysian’s local newspaper readers. Have the killer thought of Datuk Sosilawati’s family when they acted a cruel deed to her?

Firstly, most crimes committed are acted upon selfish reasons. The meaning of selfish used here is being self-centred and doing some activity for one-self’s own benefits. People nowadays are being as inconsiderate as they would rob others without thinking the effects on other people. Living in a rat race society could mold you into becoming a competitive person. When a person saw other people’s lives are full of luxurious possessions, some would strive to meet their goals. Meanwhile, others would either rob a bank or swindle the company’s money. They did not think of other people’s feelings when they did those misdeeds. I mean, if you are the type of person who is so competitive and will have nothing stand in your way between you and your goal, and then maybe you could relate to this. When you have set your mind into getting that goal, you may forget to ask your conscience whether whatever you’re doing is right or wrong. Thus, please stop doing things that you think it’s not right.

Next, man mostly who wanted to fulfill his sexual pleasures, he would rape an innocent girl where by the man wouldn’t care less about the girl’s feelings and emotion after being a victim to his crime. Other than raping random girls who unfortunately encountered the sex maniac by just walking along the streets, some men are smart enough to use the latest technologies to commit such hatred act. These clever men would go into chat rooms in the internet and search for those lonely girls who just needed a company. Girls ranges the age from 12 to 17 would be common victims. Firstly, these sex maniacs would be the girls’ best friend and listen to how their day goes and help them to continue on with their adolescence lives. As the guy slowly gains the girl’s trust, he would try to meet with her which leads to that unfortunate rape. Therefore, teenagers should be taught not to give out information and not to easily trust anyone on the internet.

Besides, a person would steal other’s possessions because they needed to sustain their living. They probably did not intend to steal at the first place. But they were forced as they could not obtain money to buy necessities in life. Without having any educational background, they fail to get jobs as most job requirements are based on their level of education. Thus, making them slump in the high cost standard in the city. This will lead to no choice but to steal and rob or con people. Though they were forced into living this way, it is not an excuse to continue stealing from innocent people who actually worked hard to bring home the bacon. When a person is basically pushed into living a hard life, they could not care less about how others feel but they focus more on how painful their life is. Well, you should remember that the world does not revolve around you.

In a nutshell, people commit crime based on their own different reasons but committing a crime is considered as a selfish act because they are being inconsiderate. Whether the reason is because you wanted an easy life out or maybe caused by wanting to fulfil sexual pleasures and perhaps to sustain a living, it is still considered as a selfish act.
